Distressed semi-naked schoolgirl causes concern

1 min read

Henderson Police are urgently appealing for anyone who has seen or knows who the young Caucasian schoolgirl is who left a public toilet block in Te Atatu South at about 10am wearing only a t-shirt, to contact them.

A cleaner saw the distressed girl leaving the Neville Power Memorial Park - at the end of Kirrie Ave - toilet block shortly before 10am. She was followed out of the toilets shortly after by a man who drove away from the park along Essex St.

It's likely the girl had been assaulted in some way, as the cleaner says there was blood on her naked lower body.

She's described as Caucasian, about nine years old, wearing a pale blue polo style short-sleeved t-shirt which came to half way down her buttocks. She had long, mousy-coloured hair tied up in two pigtails, was thin and bare-footed.

The man was Caucasian, aged between 30 and 50, of medium height and build and drove a shiny dark blue or black saloon car.

Police have canvassed all local schools but have not had any nominations as to who the girl might be.

Any information about the girl or the man should go to Henderson CIB on 09 839 0600.
