1 min read

Just before 5.30 pm on Thursday 23 June a robbery occurred in a central city jewellers shop in Christchurch. The sole offender threatened staff, and then stole gold jewellery and cash. No-one in the shop was physically harmed.

The offender is described as

Male, part Maori,
Early 40’s, 165 cm tall,
Slim to medium build, clean-shaven.
Wearing a mid-tan suede type jacket and a black beanie.

The offender was last seen on foot in Lichfield Street, between Colombo and Durham Streets at approximately 5.30 pm.

The jewellers shop had good security measures in place and police are able to provide a photograph of the suspect. Police are asking anyone who recognises the male shown in the video footage to contact Christchurch Central CIB on 363 7400.

The suspect should not be approached in any circumstances and may be armed.
