Dunedin Police confirm that the body of a 20-year-old man has been found in Otago Harbour this afternoon.

About 11am police received a call from workmen who went to fix a broken plank on the wharf alongside Fryatt St. They noticed the body in the water below the plank.

The body was recovered by police divers about 1.15pm.

At this stage it is not known how long the body has been there and the man is yet to be identified. He was well-dressed, said Officer in Charge of the case, Detective Sgt Brett Roberts.

A number of staff are working on the investigation, and have been speaking to people who were in the area at the time the body was discovered.

No further information would be available today, Detective Sgt Roberts said.
