Young man still in ICU

An 18 year old man who was located injured at about 7.00 am on Friday morning in Gloucester Street, Christchurch, near the Chancery Arcade is still in Intensive Care Unit, Christchurch. His condition is still serious and police have not yet been able to speak with him.

Detective Sergeant Leairne DOW says police are attempting to trace the movements of this young man before he was found by a caretaker. Police have spoken to his friends and family.

Anyone who witnessed an altercation or similar in the vicinity of Chancery Arcade/Gloucester Street in the early hours of Friday 10 July 2009 is asked to contact the Christchurch Central CIB and speak to Detective Sergeant Leairne DOW, phone 363 7732.

Police are also seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery of a dairy at the corner of Radley and Marshal Streets last night. About 8pm a male with a knife threatened the shop owner but he was chased off the premises. Anyone who saw a male in this area last night is also asked to contact Detective Sergeant Leairne DOW.
