Three young men will appear in the Auckland Youth Court this afternoon, jointly charged with common assault after investigations into the alleged bashing of a 17 year-old schoolboy in Grey Lynn on Sunday, June 19.
Detective Senior Sergeant Gerry Whitley says the youths - aged 15, 17 and 19 - were located and arrested this morning in various parts of the Auckland region.
"The victim in this matter is still in a critical but stable condition in Auckland Hospital and, depending on his medical progress, more serious charges may be laid at a later date," he said.
"I have visited De La Salle College - the victim's school - today to inform the students and teachers there of this morning's arrests and I'm hopeful that any tension that there might be between that and any other school may be have been alleviated."
