Rodney Police lay kidnapping charges

Two men have been jointly charged with kidnapping after a nine month investigation by Rodney CIB, north of Auckland.

This morning detectives executed a number of warrants in Auckland and Palmerston North in relation to an alleged kidnapping of Mr Kim Spencer at Pakiri on November 16 2004.

A 52 year old will appear in the North Shore District Court this afternoon and a 43 year old man will appear in the Palmerston North District Court next Tuesday.

Both men are facing five charges

-kidnapping

-demanding with menaces (x2)

-commissioning of a crime with a firearm

-injury with intent to injure

O/C Rodney CIB, Detective Sergeant Hayden Mander says, "This has been a lengthy investigation to bring to this point and has involved inquiries throughout the country including assistance from the public for which Police are grateful."

With the matter before the court, Police are unable to make any further comment.
