NOS outlets raided in joint operation

1 min read

Christchurch Police this afternoon acted with the Ministry of Health and visited a number of NOS outlets in the city.

Senior Sergeant Peter Cooper says that 20 staff were involved at 12 locations.

"We worked under powers of the Medicine Act," he says. "A quantity of NOS was located at various addresses and seized by Ministry of Health staff."

25-30 cartons each containing 25 boxes of ten ampules were recovered along with 4 tanks of Nitrous Oxide from the twelve locations. NOS is deemed a prescription medicine under the Medicines Act 1981.

For the operation, some police staff were deemed enforcement officers under the Medicines Act.

The Ministry of Health is the lead agency and will take any further action.
