21 officers to be recognised during Pay Parade

During a Pay Parade being held in Civic Square tomorrow, 21 police officers will be recognised for a number of achievements and commendations.

This recognition will include G20 citations, Long Service and Good Conduct medals (14 year, 21 year, 28 year and 35 year), as well as a Commissioner’s Silver Merit Award, District Commander’s Commendations, a District Commanders Certificate and an Area Commander’s Award.

Four of the commendation’s being presented are in relation to Operation Brussels, the Mei Fan homicide investigation, which began in November 2013.

The investigation culminated in the arrest of the offender in April 2014 and subsequent murder trial the following year during October and November 2015.

The four officers receiving the commendation played an integral part during the two year-period to hold the offender to account and bring justice to Mei and her Family.

As part of the ceremony, staff across the Wellington Central Area will gather at Civic Square to take part in a Police Pay Parade.

The ceremony will be attended by Wellington Mayor, Mr Justin Lester, with Police’s Deputy Chief Executive: People, Kaye Ryan and Assistant Commissioner Mike Rusbatch.
