Alleged rock throwing leads to arrest

1 min read

A 43 year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested by Auckland City Police and will be charged with endangering transport under Section 270 of the Crimes Amendment Act, 2003, after reports of a man throwing rocks off the Bond St overbridge above the North Western Motorway late this morning.

Police were called by a member of the public at about 11.45am who said he was concerned at the behaviour of the 43 year-old. The man is now in Police custody though it's unclear whether he will appear in the Auckland District Court today.

The charge of endangering transport carries a maximum 14 year prison sentence.
