1 min read

Wellington Police are asking for public help to find 29-year-old Abdikarin Ali Haji, a Somalian deportee, who escaped from Department of Corrections custody while in transit at Wellington Airport this afternoon.

Haji was being transferred from Christchurch to Rimutaka when he escaped.

He is 187 cm tall, 75kg, slimly built, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark blue top and blue jeans when he escaped. He had no footwear and was last seen running off along Kingsford Smith Street near the airport.

Police patrols combed the area once he was reported missing shortly before 2pm today but so far there has been no sign of him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wellington Police and speak to the crime car staff on 027 430 6661.
