Arrest after party turns rough

An 18 year old male has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon after a Saturday night party turned rough.

A number of young persons gate crashed a party in Kahu Road, Riccarton, late Saturday night/ Sunday morning. An altercation ensued and ended with a 17 year old male being assaulted with a bottle in the face, for which an 18 year old male has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

Another 17 year old male was stabbed in the back with a bottle and hit with a baton. Inquiries into this assault are continuing. None of the injuries was life threatening.
