Packed to the gunnels updated

Southern Christchurch group staff made a good catch late Friday night on Opawa Road when they stopped a Mazda 323 literally driving on its springs just before midnight.

They discovered that the 323 hatchback contained 58 dozen Millers beer that had been allegedly stolen from a nearby warehouse! Following up they further discovered 33 dozen already in a house in Bordesley Street which they also recovered.

Acting Sergeant Gordie Myer says that they had to choose a `medium size' cop able to fit into the Mazda to drive it back to South Christchurch station.

"There wasn't much room in the car! When staff came across the Mazda its back end was riding very low and it was immediately obvious something was wrong as it was just packed with gold boxes."

Two males aged 23 and 26 years old were apprehended and appeared in court on Saturday charged with burglary and other charges unrelated to this burglary.
