Christmas spirit alive and well in the South

1 min read

Southern Communications Centre Manager Kieren Kortegast is feeling pretty proud of the efforts of his staff to make Christmas something special for kids who may have missed out.

Dozens of presents for all ages have been collected and donated to the Salvation Army with another collection planned for this Friday.

Inspector Kortegast said the collection was the initiative of Communicator Nicki McGrath which was enthusiastically picked up by all staff at the centre.

"The piles continue to grow daily. Christmas can be a pretty intense time for families. This is one way we can help to alleviate some of that pressure.

"This is also a very busy time of year for the Communications Centres and our staff deal some very difficult and traumatic events.

"Gathering together these gifts has really enhanced the festive spirit at South Comms," he said.
