Porirua Police are seeking public help after two separate attempted abductions in the area in the space of three days.
Detective Belinda Bull, Porirua CIB, said that in both situations the victims, 15 and 16 year old girls, managed to fight off their attacker and escape.
"We don't know if the incidents are related or not as we're still working on descriptions, but we'd like to hear from people who saw the incidents or who saw any suspicious activity in the Main Road, Titahi Bay, areas in recent days."
The first incident happened on Monday, 24 July, some time between 4pm and 8pm as a 16 year old was walking home on Titahi Bay Road, near the Takapuwahia end of the main road.
A small white car pulled up beside her and the male driver got out. The man grabbed the girl and tried to put her in the car but she struggled, broke free and ran home.
The second incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, 26 July, about 3pm. A 15 year old girl was walking home on Titahi Bay Road when a man approached her and tried to pull her towards some nearby boatsheds. She too fought back and escaped.
Detective Bull says the young women are naturally shaken and distressed by what has happened.
"Titahi Bay Road is a busy thoroughfare at any time of day so we're hoping that someone saw the incidents or noticed something untoward and can let us know."
