Westport Police this morning named the 38 year-old man who died in the town at the weekend. He is Mark Travis Currie. Mr Currie had been living on the West Coast for five weeks and was formerly from Nelson.
Police were called to an address in Brougham Street, Westport, about 9am on Sunday 26 September and discovered Mr Currie deceased.
Police have spoken to a 40-year old woman who was living with Mr Currie. She is co-operating with police and has not been arrested.
A scene examination is under way and is expected to take about two days. A post mortem is expected to take place in Christchurch on Wednesday.
