Police recover body from air crash

1 min read

Nelson Police have this evening recovered a body from the site of an aircraft crash in Mount Duppa, north-east of Nelson.

Because of the terrain an Airforce Iroquois was required to winch three Police down to the crash site along with an Airforce medic. They discovered the pilot had been thrown from the microlight on impact and was well clear of the aircraft, which had caught alight. The fire had been contained to the aircraft.

A Police photographer has photographed the crash site for the CAA investigation.

The pilot’s body has been taken to Nelson mortuary.
