Police have launched an investigation after a woman suffered a serious gunshot wound this afternoon.
Police and ambulance were called to an address in Otaki at approximately 4.10pm. A 23-year-old woman was airlifted to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition. No further details on her injuries are being disclosed at this stage.
The incident occurred inside the address, the scene has been secured and residents are reassured that there are no concerns for the safety of the local community,
A 26-year-old man is currently assisting Police with their enquiries. No more information is expected to be available for release this evening.
