Bodies recovered

The bodies of two Japanese climbers have been recovered from Mt Cook.

Twizel Police says that the bodies of a male and female are now at the Mt Cook Rescue Centre from where they will be taken to Timaru later today.

The third person in the climbing party, a male has been taken to Mt Cook Rescue Centre by helicopter where he is assisting police with their investigation.

There is no further detail as to their identities as next of kin have to be advised.
