Korean National Further Remanded in Custody

A 43 year old male, a Korean national, has been further remanded in custody after a second Court appearance today on charges of murder, attempted murder, & arson.

The three charges arise from an incident last Saturday [3 February 2007] when a liquid accelerant was used to start a fire in a first floor dental surgery in the Henderson CBD.

A 42 year old Korean female died as a result of the blaze. Two men who were on the premises at time of the fire suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

CHO / Chul -Jun, previously had interim name suppression but this has today been lifted by the Waitakere District Court, and a pre-depositions hearing has been scheduled for 6 March 2007].

CHO / Chul -Jun is a 43 year old self employed businessman of West Harbour.

Police say their enquiries are almost complete. No other persons are being sought in relation to this incident.
