Wairoa Police continue search for man

1 min read

Police are continuing their search today for a third person believed to be involved in the theft of a vehicle and boat from Lake Waikaremoana.

A 4WD and boat were taken from the lake around 9am yesterday. Police stopped the vehicle near the settlement of Mohaka around midday yesterday. Two juveniles aged 14 and 15 were interviewed and have been referred to police Youth Aid.

Information received from the youths indicated a third male was involved who may possibly be armed with a firearm. Wairoa police and the Gisborne Armed Offenders Squad yesterday searched the area looking for him.

Senior Sergeant Tony Bates of Wairoa says police know who the male is and he is not considered a danger to the public. Police yesterday searched a number of houses in the Mohaka-Raupunga area looking for the man.
