Aggravated Robbery

At about 4.25am on Thursday 24 May 2007 a man disguised wearing a balaclava and gloves entered the Woolston Night & Day Foodstore on Ferry Road, Woolston.

The man walked up to the sole attendant who was behind the service counter and produced a large kitchen knife and demanded money. The attendant complied with the demand and opened the cash drawer. The man walked around behind the counter and stole several packets of cigarettes from a display area before stealing a sum of cash. He left immediately afterwards and was followed on foot for a short distance before escaping.

The attendant was shaken as a result but not hurt.

The man is described as follows;

Male, dark skinned

Aged approximately early 20's

Skinny build

Distinctive black or navy blue hooded sports jacket with pockets on the front and which has orange trim inside the collar and on the upper arm.

Long black or dark coloured pants

Dark footwear

Distinctive black or navy blue gloves with white writing across back of the wrist

Black or navy blue balaclava

Police are interested to hear from any members of the public who were in the area at the time who may have seen the man or from anyone who recognises the clothing worn by the man.
