$13,000.00 Distinctive Grapple Log Lifter stolen

1 min read

Sydenham Police are investigating the theft of unusual item after a $13,000.00 grapple log lifter was stolen from digger parked in Halswell Road overnight Thursday 17 - Friday 18 May 2007.

The Digger was being used to clear trees on the side of the road and had been left parked overnight. Because of the weight of the Log Grapple and the size of the digger it is thought that the digger had been started to lift the grapple onto a vehicle and also detach it from the digger. The stolen Grapple Log Lifter coloured Black has an identifiable serial number T285-110540.

Police are asking forestry contractors and scrap metal dealers to be on the lookout for anyone attempting to sell this distinctive item. Police are also interested in anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the parked Digger between 5.00am and 7.30 am on Friday 18 May when it believed that the item was stolen.

Anyone with information that may assist the police is urged to contact Senior Sergeant Steve Kelly at the Sydenham police station on (03) 363 2515 or anonymously on Ph 0800 TIPOFF (0800 847 633).
