Serious sex assault charges laid

1 min read

A 69 year-old Hillsborough man was arrested by Auckland City District's Adult Sexual Assault Team today and will appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon to face a number of charges relating to offences against at least six members of the same family between about 1968 and this year.

The man, an office manager, will be charged with indecency between a man and boy, indecent acts on a girl under 12, sodomy, rape of a girl under 12 and indecent assault of a girl (or girls) over 16.

Officer in charge of Operation Belfast, Detective Sergeant Andy King, said allegations about the man's behaviour came to light a couple of months ago and detectives have been investigating since.

"There may well be more charges laid at a later date and who knows how much further this investigation will take us in terms of allegations about who offended against who and how."
