Following an earlier report from the Police's Central Communications Centre of the escape from custody of a Mt Crawford prisoner at about 1230hrs today, Police are releasing his name and a photograph.
The escaped man's name is Reon KIWI.
Detective Sergeant Martin Todd of Wellington Police says police are treating him as dangerous because of his convictions which include kidnapping and two aggravated robberies.
Anyone who has seen him or knows his whereabouts is asked to phone 111 or 0800 TIP OFF.
Detective Sergeant Todd says anyone in Miramar who has their car taken or becomes aware of other suspicious activity such as clothing taken from a clothes line, should report this to Wellington Police as soon as possible on 04 381 2000 or 0800 TIP OFF.
