Man in silver Subaru approaching teenage girls in Porirua region

1 min read

Porirua Police are alerting the public to two reports of a man in a silver Subaru who has tried to encourage teenage girls into his car.

Detective Mike Craig says that today a 14-year-old girl walking to school in the Tawa area was approached by a man driving a silver Subaru who has called out and tried to encourage her into his vehicle.

A similar incident was reported last week, when a 13-year-old girl was approached on Wednesday 25 July by a man in a silver Subaru in Cannons Creek and again she was encouraged to get into his car.

The man is described as Indian and aged between 20 and 40, of medium build with a moustache, dark spiky hair and having an Indian accent.

Police are interested to hear about anyone matching this description who is known to drive a silver Subaru.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Porirua Police on Tel: (04) 238 1400.

"This type of behaviour is potentially dangerous. We suggest parents remind their children and teenagers not to get into vehicles with strangers," says Detective Mike Craig.
