Leaflet drop asks Stokes Valley residents to assist with search for 78-year-old missing man

1 min read

Police and search and rescue volunteers have spent another fruitless day searching in Stokes Valley for missing man Graeme McNaughton.

However, a police leaflet drop in Stokes Valley today has resulted in several calls from people who knew him and saw him walking on Raukawa Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police search and rescue coordinator Sergeant Jo Holden says police now have grave concerns about his survival given he may be spending a third night in the open.

Mr McNaughton was a DSIR scientist until his retirement 13 years ago.

Police will continue to search for him tomorrow, which will include police divers checking waterways to eliminate those areas from the search.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Jo Holden on Tel: (04) 381 2000.
