Waitakere CIB Arrest Two for Aggravated Burglary

1 min read

Waitakere CIB is investigating an incident in West Auckland in which the occupant of a Titirangi address was brutally attacked by two unknown males.

Detective Sergeant Peter LITHERLAND says that about 1.30pm on Monday 20 August 2007 the occupant arrived home, to discover two men unlawfully on his premises. Personal property being stolen included electrical items, professional camera equipment, and tools to total value of almost $15,000.00

"One of the offenders grabbed a pipe wrench and attacked the occupant. The victim was hit in the chest and received heavy bruising and abrasions which required medical attention. The offender used the wrench again to smash a car windscreen as the victim was attempting to flee in his vehicle. The wrench was then forcibly thrown at the victim while he was in the car."

"The level of violence used in this attack was unnecessary and unprovoked. The victim feared for his life and it was seriously threatened. The arrest of these two alleged offenders is result of some excellent investigation by CIB officers."

"Two unemployed males aged in their early 20's will appear in the Waitakere District Court today charged with a range of offences including Aggravated Burglary [14 years imprisonment] and Aggravated assault. [3 years]," Detective LITHERLAND said.
