NZ Police and the Auckland Rugby Football Union are proud to announce that NZ Police will be the naming rights sponsor of the 1A and 1B Auckland Secondary Schools 1st XV competition in 2008.
Despite the enormous popularity of this 28-team competition, it has never been sponsored before. This is also a first for the NZ Police in terms of sponsoring a sporting competition.
"We have not sponsored a sports competition of this calibre before and are really excited to be working alongside Auckland Rugby Union and Auckland Secondary Schools to make sure next year's competition is the best yet," says NZ Police Recruitment Marketing Manager, James Whitaker.
"We see this sponsorship as a great vehicle to promote the NZ Police as a career option to a large number of school leavers. It also provides us with an excellent opportunity to form a relationship with this age group in a positive sporting environment."
Auckland Rugby CEO Andy Dalton welcomes the partnership with the NZ Police and believes their involvement with secondary school rugby will benefit everybody.
"Secondary school rugby is a fantastic competition with a lot of support and interest across the city. We're extremely grateful to the NZ Police for signing up with us and throwing their support behind this age-group in an environment that, like NZ Police, promotes commitment, determination and fair play."
The Auckland Secondary School competition launches in May 2008.
