Man killed in Lyttelton named

Police are still investigating the events leading up to the death of a man in Lyttelton last night.

Martin SINCOCK aged 55 years of Christchurch, a Lyttelton Port Authority employee, was involved in a workplace accident at Cashin Quay at about 8pm and subsequently died at the scene.

Detective Dale Forman says that there are still a number of inquiries to be made however at this stage it appears that a mooring line has snapped.

Police, Maritime NZ and the Department of Labour are conducting a combined investigation to establish the events leading up to the death which occurred while a coal ship Devprayag, was being moored at Cashin Quay.
