Burglaries may be linked

1 min read

Several burglaries at shops in the Mairehau area in the last day may be linked says Detective Bruce Woodley, Papanui Police.

Yesterday a male held up the Briggs Road Superette about 1.45pm in the afternoon. The male maori, about 20 years old, confronted the sole female shop assistant demanding cash. He was given a small sum of money and some tobacco. He then left down Briggs Road towards Marshland Road.

He is described as wearing a khaki or camouflage hoody.

Last night there was a burglary at the Planet Tattoo Parlour also on Briggs Road. It involved the offender breaking the window with a hammer.

Detective Bruce Woodley says that these two incidents may be linked and police seek the assistance of the public in identifying this offender.

"We'd ask people in the Mairehau area to be vigilant," he says. 'If you have any information please contact the Papanui Police," phone 3741700.
