1 min read

Porirua Police have arrested a 35-year-old man following an investigation into alleged indecencies on three young boys.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Barnett, Porirua CIB's child abuse team, said David Hugh Chord, a factory worker, appeared in the Porirua District Court on Friday 29 August on 15 charges.

Chord, who was remanded in custody until 9 September faces five charges of doing an indecent act with or on a boy under 12 years, seven charges of doing an indecent act with or on a boy under 16 years, and three charges of indecent assault against a boy under 16 years.

The offending is alleged to have taken place between February and August this year.

Police started their investigation after a parent raised some concerns.

Detective Sergeant Barnett said police can't rule out further charges.

"Allegations of child abuse are always thoroughly investigated," Detective Sergeant Barnett said. "We encourage people to contact police if they are worried or suspect their child may have been abused."
