Police offer $10,000 reward for car used in Kahu’s abduction

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the location of the Mitsubishi vehicle used in the abduction of baby Kahu Durie last Saturday.

Detective Inspector Stuart Wildon said anyone with information can contact the Police on 0800 150 499, or through local police.

"Any approach will be treated in the strictest confidence," Mr Wildon said.

Locating the blue/silver Mitsubishi continues to be a key focus for this inquiry. We have had reported sightings of vehicles matching the description in areas outside the immediate Lower Hutt/Woburn area.

I am open to the possibility that is has been taken out of the area or that it has been abandoned, burnt out, pushed over a bank in a remote area, or that it is undercover somewhere.

We are asking people who are out and about at the weekend, specially people going along back roads or into remote areas, to keep a look out for the vehicle and report abandoned or burnt out vehicles that may match the description of the Mitsubishi to us.

"We urgently need to find this car and we are prepared to pay for information that leads directly to its recovery."
