Police appeal for witnesses to Lyall Bay bus incident

Wellington Police are seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery that occurred at Lyall Bay on Friday 5 June 2009.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.30pm on the corner of Queens Drive and Hungerford Road. The offender boarded the parked bus and pointed a screwdriver at the driver and demanded money. When the driver refused, the offender ran from the bus along Queens Drive towards Lyall Bay.

The offender is described as a male, medium build, 18 - 23 years of age, approximately 5ft 8 tall and spoke with a kiwi accent. He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark trousers, large lens sunglasses and his face was covered with a dark coloured bandana.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this robbery or seen any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area at the time.
