Police will attend all priority road crashes

1 min read

There has been no national policy change relating to Police attendance at road traffic crashes and the public are encouraged to report crashes, the Commissioner of Police, Rob Robinson, said today.

&#34All fatal and injury road crashes are treated with the highest priority by Police and the policy is that we will attend or follow-up on all such crashes.

&#34There are minor crashes where parties are happy to resolve them directly. Where the public request police involvement in minor crashes it is necessary to prioritise the response and investigative follow-up. There always has been and always will be a need to prioritise service delivery.

&#34Where enquiry is likely to be unproductive, local police staff seek to keep complainants informed.

&#34I have asked the Auckland District Commander to check the policy, procedures and letters to complainants in West Auckland to ensure they reflect current policy.

&#34If any member of the public is dissatisfied with a Police decision I would invite that person to raise the matter for further review with the local District Commander,&#34 said Mr Robinson.
