Car used in Massey cash transit armed robbery

At around 12.15pm today two staff members from a cash transit van were robbed at gunpoint whilst delivering money to an ATM machine at the Massey Pharmacy at 396 Don Buck Road, Massey.

As the cash transit staff were inside refilling the ATM, they were confronted by two masked men, one who was holding firearm. The men were wearing dark clothing and had balaclava-type masks covering their faces and heads. The staff were threatened with the firearm and had their cash bags stolen from them.

The offenders fled on foot to a waiting car believed to have been driven by a third man. The vehicle, a 2002 Mazda Premacy car (picture attached) was stolen earlier today. The car was found abandoned around ten minutes later (approx 12.25pm) in a car park on Westgate Drive, behind the ANZ bank. This was approximately 2 kilometres from the scene.

The two cash transit staff members were both shaken but not injured.

"The men have dumped the car in the car park straight after the robbery. We're hopeful that someone may have seen three men leaving this car and getting into another at around 12.25pm today. We'd love to hear from anyone who could provide us with any information" says Detective Corey Brown, Waitakere Police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Waitakere Police on  839 0628 alternatively information can be provided to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
