Police initiated a pursuit in Manurewa at approximately 6:37pm tonight after the driver of a stolen car failed to stop.
The pursuit lasted just over five minutes and ended on the Puhinui Road SH20B On-Ramp, when the car crashed.
The on-ramp is closed while police and emergency services attend. One person is currently trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries.
As per the standard process, the incident will now be referred to the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
Serious crash unit have also been notified.
