Police would like to find the owners of two distinctive items found during the search of a North Canterbury property.

The items, a trailer fitted with a large spray unit and a log splitter, were located during the search of a Glen Tui property on 1 May.

The search warrant was executed as part of an ongoing burglary investigation, in which a 45-year-old man has been charged with a number of burglary offences.

The man appeared in Christchurch District Court on 30 April in relation to two burglaries of the same address, in which items including tools and a motorbike were taken.

Thanks to help from the home owner, members of the public and Police enquiries, the suspect was identified and arrested on 24 April.

Many of the stolen items have been recovered, including the motorbike.

Enquiries are continuing, and following the search on 1 May, the man is facing further charges of burglary concerning items found at the Glen Tui property. He will appear again at Christchurch District Court on 21 May.

Police would like to identify the owners of the trailer and log splitter. If you recognise these items or have any information which might assist please contact Rangiora Police on 03 313 2683.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

Police would like to remind people to be vigilant in securing their property. Remember to clearly mark valuables such as tools so if they're recovered Police can return to the rightful owner. Further advice can be found here
