Police are now in a position to release the names of those involved in the incident near Clarks Beach earlier this month.

The boat a group of five were travelling on capsized in the Manukau Harbour near Clarks Beach on 6 November.

We can now release the name of the person who sadly died during the incident.

She was 39-year-old Gemma Ferregel.

The person still missing is her 10-year-old son, Ryder Ferregel.

Police extend our sympathies to their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

The matter will be referred to the Coroner.

The family of Gemma and Ryder have asked Police to issue a statement on their behalf. They ask media to respect their privacy while they grieve.

Statement issued on behalf of the family:

“We’re all devastated and lost for words while we grieve for Gemma and Ryder. Our only wish now is that Ryder is brought home as soon as possible.

"We would like to express our thanks to the emergency services and volunteers in the community who have contributed to the search.”

ENDS.
