Media Advisory: Conclusion of two month road safety campaign and reduced speed threshold

1 min read

Media are advised that the two month "Safer Summer" national road safety campaign, including a reduced 4km/hr speed threshold, officially ends at midnight tonight (Friday 31 January).

In order to allow Police to provide complete road toll information for the campaign period, a media release wrapping up the campaign will be issued tomorrow morning (Saturday 1 Feb). Note however, that speeding infringement and crash injury data will take longer to compile and will not be available.

The National Manager Road Policing, Superintendent Carey Griffiths, is available for media interviews on request between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday. Supt. Griffiths is based in Wellington.

To arrange interviews, please contact Ross Henderson, PNHQ Public Affairs: Email: ross.henderson@police.govt.nz, or Ph 04 470 7316.
