Palmerston North Police are asking the public for help regarding a robbery outside Cash Converters last Thursday, 3 May 2018.

Detective Steve Field, Manawatu Criminal Investigation Branch, said the man presented a weapon at an employee shortly before midday before taking an undisclosed sum of money.

“He then ran down Berryman’s Lane, across Broadway Avenue, through the Regent Arcade and the UCOL carpark before witnesses lost sight of him on Ngata Street

“We believe he then got into the passenger seat of a vehicle and was driven away from the area.”

The man was wearing a two-toned grey hooded jacket, black pants and a black cap.

Detective Field said “somebody in our community will know who this man is, either because they recognise him or they drove him away from Ngata Street”.

"We are taking this very seriously, and we want people to feel safe in their homes and at places of work," said Detective Field.

The victim is being supported by Victim Support.

Detective Field is encouraging anyone with information to contact him on 06 213 9652 or provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
