Police investigate stabbing in Te Puke

Western Bay of Plenty Police investigating a domestic-related stabbing at a Donovan Street property have made an arrest, but still require the assistance of the Te Puke community.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said that a 25-year-old unemployed Te Puke resident has been arrested this afternoon (Monday, 9 Spetember) after the stabbing of his former partner at 9.30 pm last night.

The female victim received two stab wounds to the chest and contusions, bruises and swelling about her face and head. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The Detective Senior Sergeant said the Police were searching for a filleting knife and a set of house and cars keys that have been discarded in the Te Puke area.

The offender took the victim's car following the stabbing and Police located this in Gordon Road, Te Puke, earlier this morning.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver station wagon in Te Puke town Sunday night between 9.30pm and midnight, or anyone else with information.

The arrested man will appear in the Tauranga District Court on a wounding charge on Tuesday, 10 September.
