New Zealand Police’s Rainbow car will travel south to star at Wellington’s Pride Festival event “Out in the Park” this coming Saturday.

The car, unveiled earlier this month, has been created to acknowledge the important relationship between Police and New Zealand’s Rainbow community and to celebrate diversity

Police Commissioner Mike Bush marched alongside the Rainbow Car at the recent pride parade in Ponsonby, and says he was delighted with the positive feedback from the attending crowd.

“We acknowledge that the Rainbow car has prompted conversations in the wider community and that is great.  As an organisation, we have come a long way, and now feature Valuing Diversity as one of our core values and work to support and celebrate our employees from all backgrounds.

“NZ Police is on a major recruitment drive at and it’s important that we reflect the communities that we serve,” says Mr Bush.

The Rainbow Car will be in Wellington this weekend, then it will travel back to Auckland where it will remain as part of the Police fleet and used as a community engagement car

New Zealand Police and the Rainbow Car will be at “Out In The Park” this Saturday at Waitangi Park from 11am.
