Serious assault - Grey Lynn, Auckland

Police are investigating a serious assault after two people were allegedly stabbed during a fight in Grey Lynn, Auckland.

At around 1:15am this morning Police were alerted to a large fight which began at the Grey Lynn Tavern on Great North Road.

Those involved moved onto Great North Road and continued fighting.

Two people sustained critical stab wounds during the fight and were taken to Auckland Hospital by friends.

They have since undergone surgery and are stable.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the assault, with a scene examination underway this morning.

The road is currently closed between Crummer Road and Williamson Avenue and could be for the majority of the morning.
