Oamaru Police are currently attending a serious crash on the corner of Eden Street and Thames Street (State Highway 1) where it appears a male driver has mounted the curb and hit two pedestrians and a stationary vehicle before coming to a stop.
As a result of the crash, a male pedestrian has died and the driver has been taken to hospital.
State Highway 1 has been reduced to one lane in both north- and south-bound directions.
As police have launched a serious crash investigation further details of the cause of the crash are currently unavailable.
