A crisis was averted, and a musician’s gig will go ahead this weekend after Auckland Police recovered her stolen guitar.

Isobella had her valuable electric guitar stolen from her car in Ponsonby on Sunday night, spelling disaster ahead of a show this weekend.

After lodging a report through the 105 service, the Auckland City West Tactical Crime Unit began to make enquiries into the theft.

Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber, Area Investigations Manager for Auckland City West, says the investigation identified a person of interest, who was arrested today.

“This is a great result for our staff, with some of our constables being able to hand back the guitar to Isobella at the Avondale Police Station.

“It’s great to hear that the gig for Saturday night will continue as planned.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Baber says a 56-year-old man has been charged with theft and is now before the Auckland District Court.

“Unfortunately, offenders can be quite opportunistic in these cases, so it’s always a timely reminder to ensure your valuables are secure.

“If the worst does happen, please remember to report this through our 105-phone service or online.”

ENDS.
