Constable Todd Martin, the Auckland City Police Officer stabbed in the face yesterday, was discharged from Auckland Hospital early this afternoon and will spend some time recuperating from his ordeal at home.

The 38 year-old man accused of wounding him appeared in the Auckland District Court today where he was also charged with three counts of assaulting other officers with a weapon, though Constable Martin was the only officer to be injured during the mid-morning incident.

The accused has name suppression until his next Court appearance on October 29 and has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment while remanded in custody.
