Police have been searching for a man who was swept away from Bethells Beach, Auckland, yesterday afternoon.
The 34-year-old man was swimming with his partner and a child when they were all caught in a rip and got into difficulty in the water.
The woman and the child were able to get safely to shore, but the man did not make it back.
Police were called about 5.30pm.
The Police Eagle Helicopter and Search and Rescue teams have been involved in an extensive search for the man since. Police will continue to search over the Bethells Beach and wider coastline area over the next few days.
The Police are providing the man’s family with support.
