Te Kaha scene examination complete

The examination of the scene of a fatal hunting incident in Te Kaha early this morning has been completed.

Police can confirm that a group of three experienced hunters were hunting on a property associated with the victim, Carlos Ngamoki. From initial enquiries and examination it appears that the group were moving from one location to another when a firearm has discharged fatally wounding Mr Ngamoki.

A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow. Police will not be discussing the results and the matter has now been referred to the Coroner.

No further information will be released by police while the investigation is ongoing.
