Update - Serious crash, Rotoma

Police have completed a scene examination following a crash on State Highway 30 near Braemar Road this afternoon. 
 
The crash occurred just after 2pm. Initial enquiries indicate that an eastbound vehicle crossed the centre-line into the path of an oncoming vehicle. 
 
One person was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition, and three people were taken to Whakatane Hospital with moderate injuries.

The road has now reopened. Police thank motorists for their patience and cooperation while the road was closed.
