1 min read

Police are investigating the aggravated robbery of a dairy at One Tree Point, south of Whangarei.

Just before 5pm yesterday (Sunday April 12) three men wearing hooded sweatshirts entered the One Tree Point Store. They threatened the store owners and then left with some cigarettes, other tobacco products and some food. It is believed the offenders were carrying weapons.

The offenders had arrived at the store in a stolen vehicle, which was later found abandoned at the Takahiwai Rugby League grounds on McEwen Road.

The car, a brown Toyota Corolla with registration number NR2057, had been stolen from the Okara Shopping Centre in Whangarei on Friday April 10.

Detective Sergeant Aaron Crawford said Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the theft of the car in Whangarei or had seen it since being driven around Whangarei and Ruakaka.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the time of the aggravated robbery at One Tree Point.

“We would particularly like to hear from One Tree Point and Takahiwai residents who saw this car and noticed anything suspicious in the area prior to the robbery and after it occurred.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Whangarei Tactical Crime Unit on 09 430 4500 or if they want to remain anonymous they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
